About the Role

As the Project Officer for Hygiene & Sanitation, you will play a vital role in supporting and executing key hygiene, sanitation, and health interventions within the Golbo Area Programme. You will work towards increasing access to safe sanitation, promoting behaviour change around hygiene, and partnering with communities, government, and other stakeholders to deliver sustainable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to identify and implement viable sanitation and hygiene promotion options in the project area.
  • Develop detailed implementation plans and monitor sanitation/hygiene project activities.
  • Support the rollout of market-based sanitation & hygiene programming, including menstrual hygiene management (MHM) and community business-centred approaches.
  • Build capacity of staff and communities, ensuring interventions are owned and led locally.
  • Contribute to quality assurance: monitoring, reporting, evaluations, and documenting best practices.
  • Advocate and engage with partners—county government, the private sector, community structures—to scale sustainable sanitation services.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Community Development or a related WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) field.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience working on sanitation and hygiene programmes in development/relief contexts.
  • Experience with market-based sanitation & hygiene approaches, community mobilisation, behaviour-change interventions and monitoring & evaluation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, excellent communication skills, ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and work across cultural contexts.
