Programme: African Development Bank (AfDB) Funded Master’s Scholarships for Graduate Assistants
Project: Higher Education Science and Technology (HEST) Phase II Project
The Government of Kenya has received African Development Fund (ADF) financing to support the HEST Phase II Project. The project aims to improve access to quality higher education, training and research in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for inclusive economic growth and employment in Kenya by 2030.
Through the University of Embu, part of the financing will support Master’s-level scholarships in priority STEM fields.
The call is open to suitably qualified Kenyan citizens aged 30 years and below who, upon successful selection, will be engaged as Graduate Assistants under the applicable terms of engagement.

Eligibility Highlight

SCHOLARSHIP PACKAGE:
The scholarship will cover tuition fees, research/project costs, and assessment costs for the prescribed
duration of study, subject to the approved HEST II Project provisions. The programmes of study are
expected to commence during the 2026/2027 academic year

Terms Of Engagement
Successful applicants will be engaged as Graduate Assistants and may be assigned supervised duties
in tutorials, laboratory or field practicals, assessment support, student mentorship and research
activities.
In addition, they shall be expected to complete their studies within the prescribed
programme duration and maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout the scholarship period.
Minimum Requirements
- Kenyan citizen aged 30 years and below.
- Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division) in a relevant field.
- Meet admission requirements for the relevant Master’s programme.
- Professional registration/eligibility where applicable.
