We are looking for a passionate Software Engineer to join our team in Nairobi, Kenya.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing the core platforms and services that power the Google Play store.
You will work on large-scale, high-performance systems that serve millions of users and developers around the globe, tackling complex challenges in distributed systems, infrastructure, and user experience.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software solutions for the Google Play ecosystem.

Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with a high degree of autonomy.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, and other engineers to define and build new features.

Write high-quality, clean, and maintainable code; conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.

Identify and solve complex problems related to scalability, reliability, and performance of our systems.

Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

2+ years of experience in software development, with proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python, Go).

Experience with data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.

Ability to speak and write in English fluently.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience in building and deploying large-scale, distributed systems.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS) and microservices architecture.

Knowledge of Android development and the broader Android ecosystem.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on ambiguous tasks.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
