Nadia Ahmed Abdalla is a famous Kenyan politician, activist as well as an author, who rose to prominence as Kenya’s youngest Chief Administrative Secretary in the ministry of ICT, Innovation, and Youth Affairs.

Additionally, she is the founder of Kenya Ni Mimi, a youth-oriented initiative whose purpose is to empower youths to take over leadership positions and also to promote the One Kenya Agenda.

Other than that, she also runs the Ndoto Halisi Campaign, which aims to encourage African children and girls to dream big and believe in the possibilities of their dreams.

Nadia Ahmed Abdalla was born on 13th December 1991 in a remote village, Kuze in Mvita, Mombasa County.

She attended both her primary and secondary school in Mombasa. She went to Nyali Primary School and Oshwal Academy respectively.

Nadia then relocated to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and joined Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus, where she did her Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Mass Communication.

Afterwards, she moved to Germany and joined Hochschule Furtwangen University for her Master’s in Arts International Relations and Cultural Diplomacy.

In 2020, she joined the Madam President competition that was aired on KTN. She defines her experience on the Madam President show as empowering and educative. It made her learn the different leadership tactics and also boosted her self-esteem and confidence as a young leader.

Nadia Ahmed Abdalla is a hard-working lady and a go-getter working towards changing the narratives of minorities in society.

Moving on, a little bit back to her childhood, she grew up in a blended family and was raised by her stepfather, following a separation of her parents while still young, and this made her see herself as the black sheep of the family as she always believed that her voice should be heard.

Unfortunately, she lost her mother in June 2020 to cancer.

Through sheer determination, Nadia overcame the many challenges, paving her way through the desire to show young girls and women that they can become something bigger than what society expects of them.

In her book, Of Dreams and Whatever, she states that dreams can be valid only if we are ready to sacrifice and relentlessly pursue them. In the book, she uses her story (of how she grew up facing many challenges and now rising to the top), as an inspiration to the youth that no human is limited.

Looking up to be like Oprah Winfrey, Tyra Banks, and Koffi Annan, Nadia Abdalla never let her childhood challenges block her from pursuing her dreams.

From being bullied as a child, to fighting for acceptance, to constantly battling to prove herself and finally to where she is today. It was a tough journey but she is eventually making her way out.
